Just a week ago I kicked off a Kickstarter campaign to help fund a run of prints, and the response has been amazing! So far we've raised over 150% of our goal and are on track to hit some awesome stretch goals! If you like dragon prints, I recommend checking it out.

If you can't afford to donate but still wish to help, please use this link - kck.st/1EAfMb4 - to spread the word! Every little bit helps!

Sorry I haven't been very active lately, I've been panicking trying to finish everything up before CONvergence this coming week. I finally got all my prints signed, matted, bagged, and priced, now I just have to finish my second Phoenix Shawl, the last of the Artist Trading cards, and one last minute run for some marketing materials.

Added picture because glorious dragons. The picture does not do these prints justice, but this way you can see how big they are :D

I'll be responding to comments and notes as soon as I am done with the con, so thanks in advance for your patience!

Still around, mostly lurking right now and checking comments etc. Convergence is coming up in 15 days, and I've got a lot to get done, not the least of which is a second big dragon painting. I'll have a few new deviations to submit after the next 2.5 weeks of hell are through (okay, half a week of that is gonna be awesome. The 2 weeks of prep time... not so much).
Fortunately, I'm now through the whole face scale area :D

Also, I noticed that we're getting close to 10,000 pageviews! To celebrate this, whoever catches that pageview will receive a small digital drawing from me of one of their non-human characters (most animals/animal hybrids are fine ;) )

Alrighty folks. I know a lot of you have wanted to help me out with my art, and instead of doing a Kickstarter as planned I have decided to try out Patreon.

Patreon is a relatively new crowdfunding platform that allows for monthly donations for smaller projects instead of one larger donation for a big project a la Kickstarter or Indigogo. I'm opening up my Patreon account to help fund future knitting and art projects (including my book).

You can sign up to give as little as a $2 donation to get behind-the-scenes sneak peeks at what I'm creating. Higher tiers equal more rewards, including illustrations, prints, and raffles for free patterns and finished knitted pieces.

If you can't afford to do a monthly donation, sharing this link is great help and would be greatly appreciated!

And thanks everyone for your continued support :D

First of all, thanks so much to Brookette for featuring my piece and MadeWithLove8 for suggesting it. I've been on DA for 11 years now, and this means so much to me. As thanks for the feature, I made a little phoenix banner. The Mini Phoenix is a free download this weekend over on Ravelry if you use coupon code MayPhoenix! It's a great pattern to practice for the Rise from the Ashes shawl.

Also, welcome to my new watchers! I've got quite a few knitted pieces I'm working on and some digital dragon art that I'll be posting soon, so I hope you enjoy!

Not going to upload this as its own deviation, but in case anyone was interested here is the second WIP of the oriental dragon piece I've been working on. I'll hopefully have a third WIP up by this weekend, the real world keeps butting in and taking away my work time >.<
Hope finals went/are going well for anyone in college!

It has been a long year, filled with lots of unexpected twists and turns. I've been working on quite a few projects, as most of you know. The book is still coming along, although I finally broke down and admitted that it has to be longer than I originally intended. I'm still working on the full draft. I kinda feel like Pat Rothfuss. This book is taking forever to write, and I think it's beyond being one book. We'll have to wait and see what the final wordcount is on it. The numbers are continuing to climb, and the pace isn't slowing down.

I do finally have use of my car back, thankfully, it wasn't a huge fix. Turns out that the squirrels of our neighborhood thought that my car made a great storage for walnuts.
Squirrel Disaster by aetherfang

That is the slot for the air filter in my car. Those are walnuts with shredded remnants of my air filter mixed into the hoard. And that was after they took out 2 handfuls of nuts from the compartment. This was after the incident where I found a squirrel town built into the engine of my car (population 0, thankfully). My car was revving up to 4000 rpms when I put in my clutch, which is not particularly fun when you're driving a manual transmission car in a big city >.> It works now, and seems to work better than ever before. It's been nice having a car again, even if it's right before winter when I rarely drive, haha.

Snow started to fall yesterday, and has been continuing on and off through today. It's a good time of the year for knitting and hot beverages (specifically tea :tea:) I've been doing some tests with Adagio Tea's blends, and have been getting rave reviews from the people who have tried them (myself included). I'll be offering a pledge reward level for a copy of the book, a selection of teas and a mug, so you can look forward to that! However, if you don't want to wait for the Kickstarter (likely kicking off in July) you can buy the teas over at Adagio.com. Kharka, a chocolate chai/cream blend, is reminiscent of a hot chocolate, and I highly recommend adding a splash of milk for best flavor. The Resonance blend is a vanilla green tea/berry/hibiscus bland and starts off with a blue color when brewing and turns purple, has a delightful fragrance of blueberries and raspberries, and is delightfully smooth.

I've been working on a fair number of new digital pieces, they'll most likely have to wait for a couple of weeks before I get the time to work on them in depth (thank you, busyness of the holidays! haha) but I should have a good selection of prints for the next con season. You'll likely see a few WIPs over the next few weeks along with some sketches and other prep work. My wrists are starting to get worse, so I haven't been able to knit as much as I would like to. This means that come the new year, my focus is going to be shifting away from hats and more towards art and books.

This weekend is my last sale of the year at the Holiday Geek Expo at the Doubletree by Hilton in Bloomington, MN. I'll be there with hats and prints from 10-6 on Saturday and 10-5 on Sunday, so make sure you stop by and check out the great selection of geeky crafts!

Well hello everyone!

Been a while since my last update. It's been a bit of a crazy summer, filled with flooding basements, allergies, and tons of work.

I'll be posting some new stuff up on my Etsy page for sale, including some ear hats, dragonscale berets, and some really, really nice gradient (ombre) hand-dyed scarves. Even though summer is still in full swing, fall is just around the corner! I was going to take pictures outside today, but the weather is being a bit unpredictable so I'm going to estimate that they should be up next week.

The next convention I'm attending is Anime Fusion by the Mall of America October 18-20, followed quickly by DaishoCon at the Kalahari in the Wisconsin Dells! As if that wasn't enough to keep me occupied, I'll also be kickstarting one of my novels, Divergence, a prelude to the novel I'm publishing next year, Resonance. More to come about that soon, including excerpts and art!

Not too much else is happening, mainly trying to clear up our basement and figure out where the water is leaking in from. Oh, the joys of having a home. And fixing it.
Anyone who grew up with me knows I'm a total raptor geek. I spent way too many long car rides just staring out the window, geeking out when I spotted red tailed hawks and the occasional eagle or falcon. It has long been my dream to get a falconer's license, so of course I watch some places on Facebook so I can see birds being flown.

One of the pages I watch, Elite Falconry www.facebook.com/elitefalconry in the UK needs help to raise enough money to purchase a Golden Eagle named Stanley. Here's the story ~

"A little story. If you go back through our timeline, you'll read, especially during the past winter, about Stanley, our previous male Golden Eagle. He was bought in as a breeding partner for our female. However, the pairing didn't work out. We realised we would have to sell Stanley to raise the money we needed to buy another potential mate for our female eagle. We did however, decide to fly Stanley through the 2012 / 2013 before he was to be put up for sale. Well we have to say, he was awesome. We pushed and pushed him, and the little bugger got right under our skin. He, after much hard work, turned out brilliantly, and it was with much sorrow that we saw him go. He did go to a good home though, and we planned to stay in touch to watch and see him develop. The new eagle came, and on first impressions, he does seem compatible with our female, so that at least looks positive.
However, due to unforeseen and serious issues that have arisen for Stanley's new owner, Stanley has to be sold! We are really sad about that fact, and really don't want him to go to just any home. More than that, we realise how much we miss him, and we really want him back. We have 24 hours to raise the cash and make the decision to bring him 'Home'. Any ideas gratefully received. :-( "

Now, I know this story isn't going to get much in the way of recognition from my little post, but here's what you can do to help -
If you have any ideas head over to their Facebook page and shout them out! While you're at it, repost their story if you can. Also, like their page while you're at it, they're in the middle of training a White-tailed Sea Eagle and they routinely post videos of her progress!

So, I did a quick look at my DA account and realized it had been a few months since I had done an update on here. Anime Detour was a blast, I'll be posting a few pics from the con up on my Facebook page - www.facebook.com/EpicHats, along with pictures of the WIP Eevee evolution knit series.

Been working on all sorts of awesomeness with my book. Still planning on having the Kickstarter in the fall, I'll reveal more as I hammer out the details!

I suppose that's mostly it, back to the never-ending pile of work, haha.

Good afternoon friends!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm going to be attending a few conventions over the next month, and as such I have closed commissions for the time being. I do have a wait list going, so if you're interested I'll be able to get on those around the end of April.

Otherwise, I'll be putting my hats in MiniCon's Art Show March 29-31, at the Doubletree in Bloomington off of 494.

After that I'll be attending Anime Detour, and I hope to have close to 100 hats there. Expect a lot of foxes, some pokemon, and a few dyed hats if I have the time!

Hope to see some of you there! Let me know if you'll be around. Our booth at Detour is going to be under the name The Crafty Business, since three of us share a table.
