Knit Espeon-inspired Hats by aetherfang Knit Espeon-inspired Hats by aetherfang
Hi everyone! Been a while since I've posted anything, but I've been working my tail off trying to get all these hats ready for convention, and that includes a fair amount of completely new patterns. One of them was this gem, my version of an Espeon-inspired hat. This is knit from acrylic yarn, and the ears have quilting batting in them to keep them standing up.

They are for sale, $63 each (price includes US shipping, higher for international)! - Regular Espeon is SOLD! but you can always commission one direct from me! - If you are interested in one, I sell online through Etsy. I take credit cards, and can occasionally work out deals for other methods of payment, but I do not take PayPal as I have had bad dealings with them in the past. I'm also open for commissions, and always up for a challenge! Most of the Eevee evolutions are going to be around this price, maybe a bit higher, due to the amount of time invested in making them.

Also, Epic Hats is going to be at a lot of conventions this year! I'll mainly be in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/Saint Paul) but I should also be travelling to one or two Wisconsin conventions. There will be some hats there that I'm not going to post online, so be sure to check my journal entries [link] and see if I'm going to be at a convention near you!

Pattern designed by me!
Espeon c. Pokemon Company and Nintendo

Because this keeps coming up, I wanted to let everyone know that I don't sell or give away my patterns. It's nothing personal, I tell literally no one my patterns. I make hats for a living, and that unfortunately means that I cannot sell my patterns at this time. I hope to eventually be able to sell them, but I will post about that. Please do not ask me for patterns at this time, and please respect the many years that I have spend making patterns and let them inspire you, but don't directly copy my work! There are lots of fantastic and often free fox/creature patterns on Ravelry to try out.

Those are so cool. I want one.

They're too expensive for me, though.

Thanks!
I've got a few other hats that range from the $25 mark (dragonscales hats) through the $35 to $40 mark (Pikachu, Umbreon, Foxes, Basic wolves and cats)
And they pretty much last forever, haha, I've got at least three of my original hats that I still wear :D

Wow, I had no idea that you could get large ears to stand up effectively on a hat like this before today. You're brilliant! I love this.

Thanks! Yeah, this is the first time I've ever managed it with ears this large, they're between 12/13 inches long. Most of the time they just flop over, which is fine if you have a rabbit hat, but not so much for Espeons :)

Thanks! I'm kinda torn, they look really good together in person. I'd probably have to edge out the purple just slightly in front of the green, too ;)

I'll be at Detour and AniMinneapolis in their artist alleys, though I'm with a few other people so our group is called the Crafty Business. I should also have hats at the MarsCon, MiniCon, and CONvergence art shows, and hopefully will be attending MetaCon and Anime Fusion since they got a second year and we did pretty well last year.

Thank you! This is about five years of intensive hat pattern trial and error. Hats are probably my favorite thing to make, especially since there are so many things you can do to make them unique! Have you ever visited Ravelry.com?

I have not, is it a site for knitters?

Knitters and Crocheters, there are tons of free patterns on there. Ravelry does require you to sign up for free for some of there content, but it has a great online community and the extra patterns are worth it. They also offer patterns for sale, but you can use their advanced browser to find free patterns. Knitty.com is another good site that doesn't use a login with quarterly pattern releases.

Trust me, I understand being broke! And thank you! Haha, I wear my hats around all the time, not gonna lie. I've even pulled off my warmest hat on a 100 degree day in high summer. And then got poured on and smelled like wet wool the rest of the day :)

No, it isn't :( makes for sad shopping trips/finding great deals online, especially when you have bills in front of your computer! (Like I do right now, TT.TT)
If you ever get the extra money and decide you want a hat, feel free to send me a message! I take custom orders year round.
And thanks for the compliments ;) Always happy to turn a non-hat wearer to the dark side.

Yeah, especially when there are really great video game deals. I was lucky I managed to buy one PC game for $3 when I only had $5.
Of course~ I'll be more than happy to buy one of your hats when I get the chance!~
YEAH!~
(Come to the dark side, we have awesome nerdy hats!!)

I don't really have anything to spend my money on, and since I was on break, I just decided to buy a kabunch of games~

I had an allowance but got it taken away as of right now. It's no big deal for me really, I have other ways of getting money. And since I plan on doing commissions in the summer, Im pretty excited~
(Mwahahaha! We shall conquer the world with our Poke-hats and Girl Scout Cookies!!)

Mwahahaha, especially now with all the girl scout cookies being sold :D My cousins both are in girl scouts, and one bought an Umbreon hat and the other bought a Pikachu hat, so there are going to be a couple of Pokemon out selling cookies, hehe. So, there are awesome nerdy hats AND cookies over here!

Ah, yes, Vaporeon has some difficult pieces... I guess that Eevee and Umbreon will be the easiest ones :P

Umbreon is definitely the easiest! I've made a few, I just never get to take pictures before they sell, haha! I think Vaporeon, Leafeon, and Glacion are going to be the hardest to manage, but what's life without a challenge?

Will do! I may actually have one leftover from conventions last year, I'll have to go see if it just needs assembled so I can post some more pics. I think it was a shiny version, I'll probably whip up a regular for another comparison picture!
